Built for its amazing gaming features in 3D the new Nintendo 3DS gives us very good 3D gaming experience without using any special 3D glasses. We can shoot 3D photographs using the dual cameras installed in the back but it has only one camera in the front. 3DS comes with many preinstalled soft wares along with Spot Pass services and is also complemented with drop and charge dock. In MAY you can expect eShop with GBA virtual console along with internet browsing feature, DSiWare transferring and Netflix support.
Design
Nintendo 3DS is almost similar to DS Lite in every aspects. It has a dimension 5.3×2.9×083 inches and it weighs 8.28 ounces which is almost similar to the specifications of DS Lite. And even the lower screen size is same for both (3DS and DS Lite) about 3 inches. But when compared regarding the top screen, 3DS screen is wider than DS Lite. The 3DS has a diagonal display of 3.53 inches with 800×240 pixels resolution. 3D effect is supported with this resolution.
Cosmo black and aqua blue were the first colors to be launched. It seems that the 3DS is been encased with a shiny plastic coating. We have 0.3 MP dual cameras on the front lid and 3D Photos can be shot using those cameras. We can’t say these cameras are acceptable since they have only 0.3 MP resolutions, anything more than 2.0MP would seem to have an acceptability factor. These camera sizes are similar to that of the cameras offered in DSi and DSi XL. When the lid is closed, on right side we can see a Wi-Fi switch.  SD card slot and volume slider are located on the left side. The SD card slot contains 2GB SD card which is been included with it. 3DS houses an LED notification light on the right hinge and this light acts as a messaging center. Blinking of this light takes place when there is a new incoming message and if any activity like spot pass or street pass has occurred.

We have two buttons, IR infrared port and a game card slot on the top left and top right portion of the 3DS and we even have a collapsible stylus attached on the top. Also we have AC charging port along with a docking port.

When we open up the 3DS it still looks similar to DS Lite in almost all the ways. Now I gonna tell you what are the new features provided. We have start, home and select buttons beneath the touch screen. Power button is located on the right side which facilitates you to put it into sleep or it can be completely shut down .we have a headphone jack, charging LED indicators and the power button in the bottom of 3DS. We have a wide screen of 5:3 ratio on the top and to the right rests the 3D slider.
3DS comes with an option for adjusting or removing the 3D effect. The 3DS comes with an internal storage capacity, but seems that other system apps have with held the space for its usage. We can store photos within the internal storage but the games can only be saved on SD card slot provided. Nintendo doesn’t specify the storage capacity.
Amazing 3D Technology used in it
An auto stereoscopic 3D technology is used in it, in the sense when the device is switched on to 3D mode then two separate images appears on the display screen. The 3D effect gives us a very astonishing effect; it’s surely an eye-popping event. It gives 3D effect in such a way that, an image goes deeper inside the screen as we look into it. It would like to refer it to a old Magic eye images which required an eye-crossing to get 3D effects.

3D images and objects. But here there is no requirement of any eye-crossing. At various events included Hands on time with our review unit and the 3DS is being preloaded with AR games. 3DS possesses a 3D effect, that doesn’t mean, with continuous usage the user gets headache or feel sick. In my experience, I never felt sick, but that is not the case, even I had to suffer headache occasionally using the 3D. The drawback in 3D is that when you are playing games in 3Dusing this device, people sitting beside you cannot see or experience 3D effect and illusion a you might experience. But that doesn’t rule out the chance at least for a single person to have that effect.
Software used in this device
The system software used in this 3DS is similar to that used in the last generation devices, but this time its better to that of earlier. Logically everything seems to be positioned correctly. Great amount of customization is provided. This features a home button like you can put off your game just by hitting on it.
Some of the softwares that have been preinstalled in 3DS are as follows
  • AR Games
  • Nintendo 3DS sound
  • Camera software
  • MiiMaker
  • Mii Plaza
  • Download play
  • Face Raiders
  • Activity log
Performance
The 3DS is a very snappy device which allows multitasking to be performed just by easily suspending the games and other apps. Since this device is only built for gaming and it features 3D technology, it gives a very good experience. Some games take more time to load but we are unaware of any unnecessary lagging. It is said that the original DS games loads slower in 3DS than on their native devices.
Battery life
In terms of battery life the 3DS has taken over its predecessors with its stunning performance. Nintendo claims to have a battery life of around three to five hrs depending on the luminosity of the screen. But for 3DS takes around 3.5 hrs to charge fully.
Gaming
Nintendo is coming up with a launch of about 16 games one-by-one on March 27th excluding the ones that have been already loaded in the system at a price of 40 U.S dollars each. Regarding the games we are looking forward with titles Resident Evil, Kids Icarus: Uprising and Mercenaries 3D that’s because the major third party developers has announced their support. Surprisingly Nintendo doesn’t seem to launch first party game players like Mario or Zelda. But Ocarina, a 3D remake is said to be out this summer. It is said that Nintendo has announced that they are working on new Mario games and we don’t have any details regarding their launch. There are many games supported by 3DS which gives you a splendid viewing performance.
Conclusion
Nintendo 3DS is a very expensive portable device by Nintendo costing you around $250 U.S dollars. It also means its technical capability. The set back here is the inactivated online functionality that suppresses the 3DS start and also the normal launch line-up is weak but surely future looks bright. Generally 3DS is better than its predecessor, original DS family.  This is the new innovative creation gifted by Nintendo. With the constant mobile gaming platform, Nintendo is put to the top place.
